In his dying moments, Pastor Davis had assured the Mount Roraima Indians that another “God-man” would come. Thirteen years had passed. Still the call kept coming. Once a commercial traveler who visited Mount Roraima reported that the Indians gathered around the grave of Pastor Davis and sang in English, “There’s Not a Friend Like the Lowly Jesus.” This report was an appeal for help.
Elizabeth Cott tells the story of the triumphs of the Cross among the Indians of Mount Roraima. She was one of many faithful workers who heard the call and responded, “Here I am, send me.”
