I believe in God the Father Almighty,

Maker of heaven and earth:

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,

Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

Born of the Virgin Mary,

Suffered under Pontius Pilate,

Was crucified, dead, and buried:

He descended into hell;

The third day he rose again from the dead;

He ascended into heaven,

And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost;

The holy Catholic Church;

The Communion of Saints;

The Forgiveness of sins;

The Resurrection of the body,

And the Life everlasting.  Amen.

From the earliest times until the present, precise confessions of faith have played an important part both in the liturgy and in the theology of the Christian Church.  The Apostles Creed is a living monument to religion, since almost every crux and conflict in Christian thought can be traced back to its declarations.  It has been worked over and interpreted by every variety of Christian church, from those rooted in a vast sense of tradition to the most radical groups who glory in eccentric views and private opinion.

This inspiring book on the ancient and famous Apostles’ Creed, builds the Creed’s twelve articles into a framework of belief rich in meaning for all Christians.
